WHEN YOU DO NOT NEED REMOTE ACCESS |
There are a number of DCRI/Duke resources that do not require a DCRIconnect application.
If the DCRI provides you with an email account, you do not have to use Remote Access to open your email. You can access your Outlook account from your browser using the Duke Office 365 web application by clicking the Office 365 option on the DCRIconnect portal page—or by going directly to mail.duke.edu. For more information about using the Office 365 webmail application, refer to Microsoft training videos at:
You can reach some DCRI web applications, such as Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS), directly from your browser without opening the DCRIconnect portal page. (Of course, you must enter a valid NetID and password to use the application.)
There are some DCRI-related websites that are intended for public access (such as DCRI.org and the CTMS Learning Center) and some websites that are accessible to the public but require a valid NetID and password to open specific resources (such as the Duke Occupational and Environmental Safety Office [OESO] website). You do not have to Tip: Try connecting to a website or web application directly to determine if Remote Access is necessary.
